Julie Scott
CEO
Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust
Julie joined the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust in 2007 and has an extensive understanding of housing issues in the District. The unique problems of the Queenstown Lakes has led to the Trust being renowned for its innovative programmes. To this end, Julie has led a team which has successfully implemented two assisted home ownership programmes, a rent-to-buy model, affordable rentals and a first home buyer’s home loan programme.
A major factor in the success of the Trust is its unique capital funding model through Inclusionary Housing. This process is facilitated through a partnership with the local Council and the only one of its kind in New Zealand.
Having lived in Queenstown since 2002, Julie has a varied background including a BSc from Otago University, working for DOC, guiding on the Routeburn track and several seasons as Ski Patrol, before finding her passion in the community housing sector, for which she’s now a staunch advocate.
