Dr. Chris Litten is the General Manager of Research at BRANZ, where he has led the research group since 2015. With a passion for science and technology delivery in Aotearoa New Zealand, Chris focuses on turning research into real-world impact for the building and construction industry. He excels in business development, knowledge transfer, and building strong partnerships with industry leaders, government officials, and science providers.

Chris has played a key role in guiding BRANZ through challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, achieving financial targets and reshaping strategic priorities. He has driven initiatives such as the “Science Growth” approach to support researcher development and the “Digital Futures” roadmap for BRANZ's digital transformation. Under his leadership, BRANZ has increased research revenue and solidified its reputation as a collaborative leader in New Zealand and international building research sector.

Chris holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Canterbury and has held various leadership roles in prominent research organizations in New Zealand, Switzerland and Sweden. His career highlights include leading significant organizational changes, establishing key industry partnerships, and managing diverse teams to deliver impactful research outcomes.
