Bruce Rendall
Head of City Growth and Property
Christchurch City Council
As the Head of Facilities and Property at Christchurch City Council, Bruce Rendall oversees the management of the Council’s facilities, property, and social housing portfolios. Bruce has played a crucial role in transforming housing models to enhance the financial sustainability and quality of the city's social homes. His efforts have not only benefited Christchurch but have also influenced broader changes across the local government sector.
Bruce has worked closely with the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust, collaborating on various projects to improve community housing solutions. His work includes facilitating partnerships and land supply for mixed tenure developments, leading a significant earthquake rebuild and repair programme, and investing in initiatives to improve the warmth and dryness of housing units.
Among his notable achievements, Bruce has been instrumental in securing substantial funding to expand social housing. Under his leadership, the Council approved loans of up to $55 million to support the construction of new social housing units. This initiative has addressed housing needs while also reducing financing costs.
