Bree Davis
Chief Executive Officer
Te Runanga o Whaingaroa
I am the Chief Executive of Te Rūnanga o Whaingaroa, a small, non-settled iwi representing Ngāpuhi ki Whangaroa and Ngāti Kahu ki Whangaroa. I lead the organisation’s strategic direction with a focus on sustainable growth and better outcomes for our iwi. My leadership is grounded in my identity as wahine Māori and strong whakapapa connection to my hapū of Ngaitūpango. Since joining the Rūnanga in 2019, I’ve helped guide the organisation through key transitions and opportunities to strengthen whānau resilience.
Our iwi recognises the challenges that our rural whānau experience and we work hard to support whānau through transitional housing, affordable rentals, and by exploring solutions on whenua Māori. I’m deeply committed to enabling whānau to live where they choose—and for some this is often near their marae, whenua, and whānau.
I also serve on local boards and contribute to regional housing strategies through Te Pouahi o Taitokerau, working to improve housing outcomes across Te Tai Tokerau. I believe effective leadership is vital in creating secure, affordable, and sustainable housing. Across every kaupapa, my focus remains on unlocking whānau potential, advancing solutions, and strengthening the systems that help our communities thrive.
